Testimonials About our Mediation Training:
Diana Mercer is a great trainer and facilitator. She’s open, outgoing and personable, which only serves to highlight her expertise in the areas of divorce and family law mediation. She started as a student of mine in 2000 and quickly became an assistant trainer in my 40 Hour Family Law Mediation Training as well as in my Advanced Family Law Mediation training program with the Los Angeles County Bar. She continues to coach role plays for my advanced training and always has great insights for the mediators. Students love her soft touch with constructive criticism, and I love her willingness to answer questions yet keep to the agenda. She and Tara Fass, LMFT, have developed a unique co-mediation approach to family law mediation, helping Couples deal with the psychological divorce along with the legal divorce.

Diana Mercer and Tara Fass are outstanding trainers. In 2005, they came to the University of Idaho College of Law's Northwest Institute and provided a 20 hour Advanced Family Mediation course. Their program received rave reviews. In fact we have invited them back this fall! The lawyer/therapist team approach to teaching and mediating works well.

Diana Mercer brought practical experience, warmth and intelligence that to a recent (May 14, 2008) national teleconference for the New YorkState Dispute Resolution Association. Diana's business success in ADR opened the eyes and sparked new ideas. I left with pages of notes that I've already begun to implement. She complemented the program with useful handouts and expertly managed questions and answers.

Diana Mercer and Tara Fass are experts in their field as teachers and trainers in their approach to family law mediation which addresses the underlying hidden messages Couples unconsciously convey. At our mediation training for psychotherapists at the New Center for Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles in 2005 and 2006, Diana and Tara taught aspiring mediators how to manage issues of betrayal, entitlement, control/domination, rivalry, shame and blame. Fass and Mercer are experts at helping beginning mediators understand how victimization can work to dupe the mediator and potentially judges and lawyers in submitting to requests by subversion and coercion. The victim is just as aggressive as the perpetrator but in reverse. Diana and Tara have developed an approach to family law mediation that is not only very effective for high-functioning divorcing Couples, but can equip mediators with information and skills to deal with the underlying covert issues and hidden dynamics that most mediators are not aware of. As teachers and trainers they are unparalleled.

When it comes to mediation practice and training, Diana Mercer—founder of Peace Talks Mediation Services (www.peace-talks.com)—has no equal. I know this from personal experience. Recently, Diana was a featured presenter at two sizeable conferences I organized (www.womensfestivals.org) in California and Arizona. At both, she received glowing reports from our participants who appreciated her down-to-earth and easygoing style, as well as her candor in her prepared and impromptu remarks. Her straightforward approach to interest-based negotiations works both at home and in more formal settings, and I love her no-nonsense approach. Diana’s willingness to share her expertise with regard to effective and practical mediation and negotiation best practices is a role model for others too. I whole-heartedly recommend Diana for your mediation course.

Diana Mercer, Esq., and Tara Fass, LMFT facilitated a training for my business group, ProVisors. Their topic was resolving conflicts at work, and they were so well received that I recommended them to all of the groups in our network. Their sense of humor and presentation style charmed even the most skeptical participants. As a management consultant, I know how conflict at work and at home can negatively influence the bottom line, so I appreciated their easy-to-implement suggestions which were elegant in their simplicity yet quite effective. I’ll use the what I learned in their seminar in my own business and in my work with clients.
